How to Install a Casement Window
Ron Hazelton's HouseCalls
{God Bless this Man!}

I MUST share with you this wonderful video that I watched today! I recently subscribed to the emails and so glad I did because this was a Blessing to receive this in a timely manner!

I must replace an old window in my bathroom. I have had insulation in the window for 9 years since it is ONLY a storm window! The casing is leaking and rotting. The rest of the room was remodeled but there was no time, money or professional help {pro bono!} to tackle that job.

I also have two windows and a door to replace in my large remodeled kitchen/dining room which is also a back entrance to my home.

NOW I CAN DO IT MYSELF!
Be sure to follow Ron on Ron Hazelton's HouseCalls on FB. Below is the video that will give you the knowledge and confidence you need to Replace an Existing Window with a new Energy Efficient Window. I have also tried to study the tools he uses in the video and link them here on this post with my research from Amazon.

Be sure to come back to this page to view the tools I feel is/comparable to what Ron uses. These are the tools I have added to my Amazon Wish List and hope to be purchasing them as I can. I have a lot of permanent injuries that affects me on a daily basis.

Purchasing good, quality tools is one of my budgeting goals to HELP me repair my home to be more energy efficient.

God Bless this man for being such an inspiration and providing easy to follow videos on how to enrich my daily living!

I think this might be the nailer that Ron used in the video.

This particular one is a bit flatter than the Vaughn SuperBar, but I CAN attest to how it helps with renovation or repair jobs!

Stanley 55-515 12-inch Wonderbar Pry Bar
Please be sure to read the reviews on this GREAT TOOL! I speak from experience!

You will gain a lot of knowledge and some tips by reading the reviews! This is a MUST to have in your tool kit! I've used it on many projects when doing my renovations!

{A tip from me: if you place a small block of wood under the curve while prying, you can get more leverage and also keep from marring the surface you are working against!}

Here are a few other tools that I am eyeing for my personal tool kit:

Paslode Eagle Claw Nail Extractor

Product information that I am putting my trust into:
Using very key patented features like the "hammer tap" area at the back, the built in fulcrum area toward the front of the jaws, and the spring loaded gripping capabilities, this tool is capable of digging and gripping nails that are flush or below the surface.

These traits differentiate it from most other designs which are mostly limited to only getting exposed nails that are raised above the surface of the wood.

This one appeals to me because it is like a tool I used years ago when my mom and uncle were helping me rip out an entire addition to the studs - dirt to rafters. I was able to use it with skill and "ease" - for my weak, damaged arms anyway!
Estwing DEP12 Double End Nail Puller, 12-Inch Length
A reviewer notes (with 5 stars):
"This smaller 12-inch puller is great for 3-inch nails or less. Compact means it will fit in a small space or hang without notice on your hip. It can dig a nail head out of the wood and once up, it slides right out. Good around trim, decks, basement joists, bathroom remodeling and other tight jobs."
